TufFill NH™

TufFill™ has two main product groups – Concentrates and Zero Halogen.

The TufFill™ Concentrates are polyethylene based and are available in a variety of ‘off the shelf’ flame retardant (FR), UV and blowing agent packages. Along the principal of color concentrate, S&E’s TufFill™ concentrates are metered in to the level of FR, UV or amount of foaming the customer wishes to attain. Concentrates also come in varying levels of active ingredients allowing the customer to add less with the high % of active ingredients.

For example, if you are purchasing a variety of FRPE materials for your cable insulation due to your need for different levels of FR, the value to you the customer is you are able to buy the base resin in large quantities and add the FR concentrate to the desired level you wish to attain. This will allow you to buy the base resin in bulk at potentially a reduced rate and also not have to have as many different FRPE materials in stock allowing for less inventory and fewer skews.

The TufFill™ Zero Halogen material is TufFill™ NH GTPO 8290-36. This TPO based material is softer than most zero halogens in the market at around 92 Shore A, is 105C Rated, 36 Oxygen Index (OI), a -55C Brittle Point and VW1 rated. Current development is focused on a 41 OI for Riser rating.

TufFill™ NH is used predominately in the Wire & Cable market. S&E specialty Polymers has recently developed an antistatic version called TufFill™ NH 21A2 for the packaging industry. This additional value of this non-PVC alternative is it can easily be ‘scored’.
