TPE’s are defined at S&E Specialty Polymers as vinyl based thermoplastic elastomers.
The compounds that fall under the TPE category combine the properties of TPO with the added flexibility, good low temperature characteristics, oil resistance and flame retardancy of PVC.
S&E Specialty Polymers’ flagship compounds offer a wide variety TPE grades that are tailored towards specific markets. Custom compounding is a large component of our business development as well.
S&E provides TPEs primarily for the wire & cable and footwear markets. In the wire & cable market, the low temperature (Brittle Point range of -50C to -53C) and flexibility (58A to 68A) properties are perfect for wind turbine applications while those same compounds work well in a robotic application because of their flexibility and oil resistance. For the footwear market, the PVC/Nitrile blends allow for excellent oil resistance, abrasion and slip resistance.
