TPO : Thermoplastic Polyolefin

Thermoplastic Polyolefins (TPO’s) are multiphase compositions in which one phase consists of a material that is hard at room temperature and fluid when heated, and the other phase consists of an elastomeric material that is soft and rubberlike at room temperature. S&E Specialty Polymers offers both halogenated and non-halogenated TPO based materials.

S&E provides TPO’s for primarily the wire & cable, battery and automotive markets. Applications range from flame retardant polyethylene based materials for the wire & cable market, flame retardant polypropylene for the battery market (UL 94 V0 & V2) and interior, exterior & paintable applications for the automotive market. Various fillers and additives are also incorporated to meet required specifications by material & design engineers. For example, all S&E TPO’s can be color matched with UV additives to pass OEM accelerate weathering and two year outdoor weathering tests.

Recent TPO developmental efforts are concentrated on high melt flow compounds for thin wall and complex injection molding applications. We are able to achieve high melt flow rate while maintaining required physical properties, low weight, low CLTE, stiffness and impact balance.
